Traditionally, some long-term archival methods such as tape have been the preference for organizations because there’s the perception that it’s the only medium that’s going to last. And while tape has historically been a resilient, long-lasting method of data backup, it’s also expensive. Fortunately, utilizing the public cloud as a replacement is an option. For example, organizations can use on-premises architecture for fast data recovery, and then utilize the cloud for longer-term retention. Organizations can also utilize vaulting capabilities available in the cloud such as Cyber Recovery from Dell EMC. These measures help protect data from ransomware or other risks.
